See Southern Living magazine bring the holidays to life, here in River Dunes. The 2022 Southern Living Idea House is decorated for the Season, with garlands, greenery, and holiday decor inspiration for all.

During the very special Host & Toast Weekend on November 11 – 13th, visitors will receive a commemorative Southern Living ornament, tasty holiday treats, recipe cards and a complimentary December edition of the magazine*.

The Holiday Host & Toast features the work of our very own Red Rickshaw Interior Design; handpicked by Southern Living to decorate the Idea House for the Season. 

Host & Toast guests will enjoy French Onion Soup Sandwiches, the delectable Annual “White Cake” featured in the December issue and more. There are sponsor gifts, ornaments and a December edition of Southern Living magazine for the first 500 guests* to sign up… The Idea House will be decorated and open for tours until Dec 18th. *complimentary gifts are while supplies last*

Southern Living will release a special online feature in December, showing the Home decorated for the Holidays… Stay tuned!

The 28 acre, protected marina in Grace Harbor is engineered for boaters with floating ipe docks, wide gangways, and full-length finger piers. The protected entrance-channel opens in Broad Creek, a natural deep-water creek just off the ICW and Neuse River.⁠

The Pamlico Sound is the largest body of water in the four regions and known as the fishing gem of North Carolina.⁠

These waters are shallow, like elsewhere in the Outer Banks. But you can find deeper holes where schools of fish hide. You can return home with limits of Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Kingfish, and Rockfish.⁠

Meet Infraorder Anisoptera, more commonly known as the Dragonfly!⁠

The earliest relatives of dragonflies can be found in fossil records dating as far back as 325 million years ago, around the Jurassic Period. At that time some of them had a wingspan of about 2.5 feet! Of course, today’s dragonflies are nowhere near that size thankfully.⁠ ⁠

You can find these little guys hanging out in clusters between May and August in North Carolina. They are fast, agile fliers, and have the capability to cross an ocean if they desire, but most follow a flight path that brings them over ponds and pools of standing water.⁠
⁠⁠
Throughout history, various cultural beliefs have be attached to the dragonfly. Folklore deems that spotting a dragonfly will bring a positive transformation your way in the form of good luck. If one lands on you it may be fast but hopefully it will bring you luck that lasts. ⁠

Next time you are walking around River Dunes at sunset keep your eye to the horizon and you just might see one of them zip by!⁠

The weekend includes a BBQ Dinner pick-up on Friday, May 14, live online auction and $10K Golden Raffle Ticket on Saturday, May 15.⁠

The Regala weekend is a fundraiser bringing in 1/3 of the annual revenue for Hope Clinic. Hope Clinic provides medical care to those in Pamlico County who are uninsured, and comprehensive outpatient medication-assisted opioid addiction treatment through their New Beginnings program.⁠

This past week ground was broken, behind the tennis courts, for the much anticipated community garden. Garden Club Members came together, made a plan and took action as a team. We can’t we to see all of the new growth that will be coming forth over the next several months!⁠
